About Global Asia Program

The Global Asia Program, sponsored by the Luce Foundation and New York University, brings together scholars, educators, artists, students, and activists to explore the many forms of mobility that shape form Asian spaces from ancient times to the present.

Our Research Projects produce online resources for teaching and research on the mobile connectivity of human environments traveling through Asia and around the world.

Centers for the study of Global Asia at New York University, in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai, organize and sponsor research to advance the study of Asia as an unbounded space of mobility, connectivity, and territorial transformation, from ancient times to the present.

We work in and across all regions of Area Studies, in a wide range of disciplines. We study technology, economics, migration, travel, tourism, language, literature, art, religion, politics, ecology, climate, health, medicine, ideas, material cultures, and more.
