Teaching Global Asia through the Black Radical Imagination
The Global Asia project was conceived as a multi-media research platform that hosts established and emerging scholars in the service of public-facing Afro-Asia Studies. As part of the global NYU community, we are not only deeply committed to sharing and promoting interdisciplinary, cutting-edge scholarship on Afro-Asia, but also improving the lives of those of African and Asian descent in NYC and beyond.
This website is our first attempt at such an endeavor as we strive to provide a space for scholars in separate fields to contribute to and enhance their own academic goals through the many aspects of teaching and researching Afro-Asian intellectual and cultural history. The site includes an “Interview with the Author” series, bibliographies, current events, and community resources that reflect the diversity of NYU’s student population.
These resources have been curated by Cassie Washington. She is leading our project on Afro-Asian Interactions. Cassie is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in our History Department.
